Ben Butler Scaffolds Poplar wood at Rice Gallery

Ants and humans have an age old association. We share our passion with ants to build cities and ants are equally apt at building their own very complex structures. Taking a clue from this similarity, some artists create artworks

Fascinated and inspired by the intricate structures that arise from very delicate processes, Ben Butler .  In Butler’s unbounded installation, elaborate and very delicate system of ant colonies can be found stimulating human cities. With over 10,000 pieces installed of poplar wood, the Unbounded installation is displayed in Rice University Gallery in Houston.
