Snowden’s work explores the relationship between reality and the unconscious, challenging physical expression with past experience and memory. Inspired by the human form and the landscape he combines the mediums of drawing and painting to create bold expressive works that strip away the visual distractions of form with deliberate characterisation and colour. Through the almost unformed nature of the works an emotional pathway is carved inviting the viewer to engage in these private worlds of love, faith, pain and isolation that stretch beyond the restraints of the picture plane.
