Mirela Chirac

The images I make are created intuitively by enjoying the constant process of playing with characters, shapes and colors. They come out of ideas, memories and personal experiences. My key procedure is letting the creative process flow naturally, perhaps by surprise, nothing that is too planned, sometimes the first image that I find is the one that defines the final piece, sometimes it’s just a phrase.

My work consists mainly of collages on paper made out of recycled magazines, old books, flyers received randomly on the street or any other image that comes into my hands. The final pieces are mirrors reflecting the way I understand and feel the everyday experiences of life.

I use the computer mostly for portraits when preparing the layers for the base stencils. It’s always an interesting virtual journey discovering new ways of expression with each work.

I believe emotions are universal and specific at the same time in one’s soul, transforming with every developing phase of the individual and my collages are artistic attempts of “singing in pictures” the way I understand this process of evolution.
