Born in Salt | Annika Wandall.
A landscape project about the Faroe Islands. A journey really, in my second home country. Working on this project for about 5 years, photographing the mountains I used to call home. I am the places I come from, and the Faroe Islands is one of them. I enjoy capturing the melancholy in the landscapes and the fog. The hardness of the mountains and the weather. Living in a place that has about 300 rainy days a year definitely had an impact on me and my work. I spent 7 years of my childhood, getting moulded into the person I am today there. It’s a harsh environment, far away from pretty much everything. Located in the middle of the Atlantic, between Iceland and Scotland, the islands are pretty secluded.
The final end to this project will be a book, called Born in Salt. Featured with text written in Faroese, sketches and a mix of digital and film photography.
