Whilst I enjoy painting a variety of subject matters, my main love is water, especially the beautiful Australian coastline, and I am constantly testing my skills in achieving such things as the translucency of a wave or reflections on still water.
All of my artworks are originals, completed from my own photographs taken during my many walks along the beach, breathing in the sea air and listening to the crashing of the waves. I try to share the atmosphere of the ocean with viewers of my paintings.
I am now using my art to educate people about the environment. Following a visit to the beautiful Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium and Turtle Hospital, I decided to complete a series of turtle paintings and donate 50% of their sale to the Turtle Hospital to assist the rehabilitation of endangered turtles who are either sick or injured. Colin Davis Photography (http://www.colindavisphotography.com/) and Ocean Safari Eco Tours (http://www.oceansafari.com.au) have provided reference photos for this artwork and I thank them for their generosity.
