Combining of traditions with contemporary elements in Yuriy Bodnar’s art.
Yuriy Bodnar (1955), started working still in Sovjet Union period that used to influence style and artistic language of all artist of Sovjet bloc, but after it was disintegrated, there started a new period in his art full emotional expresivity, search of new artistic language and establishing of his own particular style.In composition of one painting Yuriy Bodnar combines traditional fine art with contemporary techniques and elements. With the help of intersected “sunbeams” artist underlines variety of life aspects, nature & people characters. They create invisible planes in the light of which objects start interacting, approaching or distancing, but all them together tell a story.
Since 1995 he is a constant participant in regional, national and international either group or solo exhibitions (In particular: President’s Administration of Ukraine and Ukrainian House (Kyiv), Parliament of Bratislava, Trebisov, Banska Bystryca in Monastir in Tunis, Lugano in Switzerland,Rome in Italy, Athens in Greece, Paris in France etc ). His own style and lyricism of painting was highly acclaimed by galleries owners and art’s critics in Ukraine and abroad. In 2011 he won the First Prize in IVth Biennale of icon painting and sacral art in Trebisov, Slovakia. Artist’s works are in private collections in France, USA, Israel, Germany, Tunis, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, In private collections in Ukraine, among others as a constant exposition in National Ethnological Museum (Ternopil), in funds of National Art Museum “Bokshay-Erdeli” and Museum of Kozak’s history in Baturyn.
