I enjoy creating handmade wooden shadow boxes and collecting vibrant, colorful natural objects from the world around us and arranging them inside each box. Every shadow box ends up being unique and I never get tired of exploring the outdoors in search of new items to include within them. There is something about taking natural objects we see every day and placing them elegantly next to one another behind a piece of glass that makes their colors and amazing shapes stand out. Working with elements from nature provides a very tactile pleasure as well. I discover how tough and strong a pine cone is, or how delicate a certain leaf can be, or how many colors there are to different acorn caps. All things that are waiting to be observed every day.
