I WORK FULL TIME AS AN ARTIST, FROM MY HOME IN NEW ZEALAND, WITH MY FAMILY OF HUMANS AND ANIMALS.
I have drawn pictures and written stories ever since early childhood. Over the last few years, my paintings have become stories – instead of words, there are symbols; instead of descriptions there are visual metaphors.
I like to create art that inspires hope. I am vegan and a big fan of animals, and often see images and read things that make me feel a sense of hopelessness for humanity and the earth. Because of this, I try to counteract this through my art – to bring a hopeful and positive energy into the world.
‘Episodes of a Day-Dream’ is a series of works that I have painted for a recent solo exhibition in New Zealand. They all began as intuitive meanderings and symbols of my thought process, and became a collection of muddled tales, shapes and patterns from nature and many animals. Each painting is unique with its own stories and messages, but overall they carry the message of caring for animals, unity between humans and animals and happy storytelling. I always aim to promote joy and inspire happy thoughts. I am an optimist and my artwork always has a cheerful undertone. My paintings are symbolic of my belief that battles can be won and people are innately good
