“Exposing the Universe” through Photography and Digital Manipulation by Felicity Lindsay
These Surrealist and Abstract digital manipulations Felicity Lindsay has created, showcase the beauty and deep complexity into the natural world. From humanity’s base instinct to feel connected either through spiritual or religious means, she has used her own photography to construct her understanding of the world surrounding her.
Her love of culture and the philosophy behind religion greatly inspires her work. She believes that religion, in fact, is not a mere process of meditations about a man’s life; it is also a means of preserving the values of life. Through her travels and journeys, she has captured the elements of life and developed them into new fantastical forms and surreal landscapes, proving that life is an ever-changing motion. In the words of Alan Watts “what you do is what the universe is doing at the place you call here and now. You are something the whole universe is doing, in the same way that a wave is something the whole ocean is doing.” We are connected to the earth in more ways than just the roots we fix into place. We are the very fabrics that create us.
ABOUT FELICITY LINDSAY
Felicity Lindsay is a twenty-one-year-old artist working in Southampton, UK. Channelling her creativity through various outlets, her main passion is her Photography, Graphical Designs and Sculptures.
Lindsay’s love for Surrealism developed whilst studying Photography at Brockenhurst College. The deep metaphorical passages, a thousand words that lay hidden inside the photographs excited her, especially from the works of Francesca Woodman and Sally Mann. She wanted to produce work that provoked the mind and connected to the viewers in different forms. Her inspiration has always been the Natural world as from birth, she spent her childhood days exploring the vast fields and forests that were connected to her home.
In recent times, Lindsay has begun experimenting with her photography, using her knowledge and developing skills in double exposure and digital manipulation, she creates these heavily Surrealist art works that explore the dynamic capability of photography and her abstract view of the beautiful and mundane.
Felicity Lindsay is a lover of the fantastical, she does not believe that magic and miracles simply are the imagination derived from fairy tales but instead are existing inside every organism that has come into being.
