am deeply inspired by nature and the healing qualities that come from being outdoors. “Fall Impression” represents that the change in seasons are very similar to our emotions. They are both in a constant state of change and renewal. “Fall Impressions” is a pure encaustic painting on wood. I made the pigments using a recipe of damar resin, beeswax and raw pigments to create the vibrant colors. This mixture is kept at a constant temperature on a skillet so it will stay in a molten state. Each brush stroke is then fused together with a heat source which creates a smooth finish. When the painting is cooled, it is then buffed with a buffing wheel to a high sheen. This has been shown in several local galleries. It is currently in the 822 Gallery, Royal Oak, Mi.
