Kaleidoscopic Trees by Ja Turla.
A part of Ja Turla’s photo project Mirrored Trees, these kaleidoscopic trees are transpired because of her volatile mental state brought about by her Bipolar I Disorder. What with the rapid cycling of moods that’s been occurring since October 2015, she makes use of the overflowing ideas to create art. Her love for trees and nature sometimes wanes when she crumbles from depression but she still continues to produce by recycling old images and tweaking them to create something new. She considers her art as a healing process. Although she doesn’t see this illness as a curable one, her goal is to lessen its symptoms and stabilize her mood. Through these visuals, she finds herself inclining towards a new way of understanding herself deeply: spirituality.
