LEGO Red House Bakery

It was well known with the signature red painted shop house, which popular amongst many students for the reasonably priced set meals on offer and popular breakfast haunt among Singaporeans living in the eastern part of Singapore.
The Red House Bakery was established in 1925 and officially called the Katong Bakery & Confectionery Company. The bakery shop exuded old charm as the antique floral tiles and wooden furniture that greeted one upon entry would invoke a feeling of nostalgia. This bakery still serves the same 1960s famous freshly baked soft swiss rolls, creamy custard puffs and other local traditional pastries until it was closed in 2003 when the shop house was deemed unsafe.

‘Red House Bakery’ not just any ordinary bakery shop house but defitinately make the best local cakes that brings back the childhood memories and has a strong relationship with most Singaporeans.

The Peranakan of Emerald Hill

The Peranakans, also known as the Babas and Nyonyas, was a prominent community of acculturated Chinese unique to this part of the world, especially in the Straits Settlements (Singapore) hence its other name, the Straits Chinese. Adopting selected ways of the local Malays and later, the Chinese the Peranakans had created a unique legacy, architecture and customs which had not only left behind a rich legacy of antiques but its cultural influences like cuisine and lifestyle are still evident in Emerald Hill, Singapore today.
