My artwork captures sadness, regret, and the overall burden that mental illness has on a person.
I want people who have it to see my work and realize they are not alone. I want people who don’t have it to almost be forced to feel what it’s like for a moment. This particular piece represents depression. You’re drowning. You struggle to swim to the surface, but something has a hold on your ankle that keeps pulling you further down. Eventually, you manage fight it off and make it to shore exhausted. Emerging only to find yourself trapped under something you can’t fight your way out of. Instead you are pulled back into the ocean once again.
