Musica Universalis (2013)
Microcosm and macrocosm These shells with analogic convolutions Cut out space in tune
Collage and printed LP on BFK Paper, 50 x 65 cm, 2013
This piece is part of a series matching printed Vinyl LPs with seashells cut out in constellation images. The title “Musica Universalis” refers to Pythagorean philosophy which considered the universe to be ruled by harmonious mathematical proportions, as well as it connects the cosmos as well as living creatures like ourself. This is why I used a formal analogy between the seashell and its spiraling shape and the revolving spirals of constellations. If prove should be made that “as above so below”, the universe is woven with correspondences.
