A 17 x 18 foot mural on the new library in Punta Gorda, FL. The mural depicts the history of the public libraries there. My concept was to show many books as well as children reading books, a librarian and a large, open old-fashioned scrap book that shows reproductions of newspaper clippings depicting articles about all the past libraries in Punta Gorda. I painted the entire stucco surface with silicate paints, including titles on over two hundred books, many of which are exact reproductions of actual book jacket covers. The project took about five months to paint and probably 3 months of research beforehand.
