São Paulo Neo Noir essay was not born to document the city using the traditional photographic aesthetics. Rather, the idea was to represent a mysterious and futuristic universe, creating a oneiric narrative based on the concepts of Neo Noir genre.
Sci-fi Movies such as Blade Runner, Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey were the “North”of the project. The Cyberpunk concept “high tech and low life” is used as well to depict a somber and deep São Paulo.
The essay was shot entirely on 35mm film using “push process” and “xpro” technique in order to achieve this unique visual and the multiple exposures have been made straight on film following the creative process: imagining the composition before shooting and leaving room for randomness. There is not a total control of the results emerging a conflict between randomness and control.
