Having qualified with a fine art degree from Birmingham in 2000 I then went on to pursue a career in web based graphic design. However a love and interest in animals had a strong hold and I changed my career completely to become an animal keeper starting at Longleat Safari Park and then eventually settling at Monkey World. When I started a family it gave me the opportunity to rediscover painting, combining my love of nature, animals and art.
Last year I was commissioned to paint a pair of unusual looking Sighthounds. These beautiful dogs were two podencos. I did some research and found that these dogs are spanish hunting dogs and are often very poorly treated. After reading about their plight I then felt compelled to tell their stories through my paintings. I have spent some time over the last 8 months painting these beautiful dogs which has been rewarding and uplifting as I have seen just how many people are passionate and dedicated to these very special dogs.
