Swiss painter Conrad Jon Godly’s mountainous paintings .
Conrad Jon Godly is a contemporary Swiss painter and commercial photographer. Throughout his painting practice, Godly exclusively renders mountains with distinctly thick, heavy impasto marks made using a wide brush in a cool, restrictive color scheme. Interested in spatial projection and light interacting with form, his canvases range in scale from minuscule to massive. He was born in 1962 in Davos, Switzerland and went on to study painting at the Basel School of Art from 1982 to 1986. Godly gained commercial success as a professional photographer during an 18-year hiatus from painting, after which he moved to the mountains of Chur, Switzerland in 2006, where he currently lives and works. His work has been notably exhibited by Gallery Luciano Fasciati and Tony Wuethruch Gallery.
