The foldable landscapes

I’m a Hungarian watercolour artist, and being fortunate enough to travel often (mostly to Greece) I capture beautiful landscapes places in my Moleskine sketchbook.

It started as a sketchbook for larger paintings, but then I discovered the advantages of the compact size and shape. Soon it became my constant companion when I travelled and I use it for plein air painting. When I’m ready I just close it up, having a new artwork and memory from another place. I call this series “Foldable landscapes”. I look to depict both the atmosphere of the landscape and the activity that enlivens it. My ‘foldable landscape’ paintings usually take 20 minutes to complete, and when it’s done I take a photo including the painting and the landscape I painted, allowing others to see the real site and my point of view.
