In each of my artworks I create poetic atmospheres in which I use elements of the environment that surrounds me, old objects marked by time, fictitious numbers and white lace.
For me, the old objects that I use in my artworks all hold a secret or a mysterious story that intrigues me. The shape of the branches and dried plants, associated with these old objects, creates a poetic contrast that is peaceful to me. I then add lace, which represents for me the ultimate ornamentation. They remind me of the frills of the Baroque era, an era that I love. Numbers and codes are for me an enigmatic need that I have to classify, identify and fictitiously index my collections of objects.
Description of the artworks below
The purpose of the project Prospection was to create an artistic exchange with campers of five campgrounds located across the territory of the Laurentians. And to create a poetic serie of artworks.
Installed for a weekend in each of these campgrouds, I began prospecting and searching for items to photograph. I chose to do my project in the campgrounds because they were full of elements that are at the heart of my artistic concerns. In short, the environmental elements like nature, old objects marked by time belonging to campers, encrypted codes such as land numbers and lace adorning the windows of the trailers.
I came into contact with the campers to explain the reason of my presence, and I asked their participation. They allowed me to photograph objects they own. These photographs have served me in creating works of art that I then was presenting in a closing event in the community room of each of the campsites.
Five works by weekend were performed using only photographs taken on the respective campsites, creating a series of artworks at the image of each of the places visited.
I have loved the arts since I was very young. My parents encouraged me by buying me art supplies for Christmas and for my birthday, to my great joy. Since receiving my Bachelor degree in Art and Design, from the Université du Québec en Outaouais in 2008, my career has flourished. My artworks quickly became a part of many private and public collections. I have also presented my artwork in solo and group exhibitions throughout Quebec. I have received numerous awards including the prestigious Distinction honorifique in 2013 from the Université du Québec en Outaouais. This award was given to me in recognition of my remarkable emergence in the art sector, for the great distinction of my professional activities and my contribution to society. I worked in an exhibition center for many years. I discovered the world behind the scenes and I have met several artists with whom I could share the journey. Now I work full time as a professional artist and I continue to learn and develop myself personally and professionally. This is what I have always wanted to do and I cannot imagine doing anything else. Now I am happy to sell my artwork, to show my artwork in exhibitions, tell my story by writing and speaking about my experience, and create art projects.
