Watercolor Painting (Portrait)

I am Raju Kale, a visual designer in an IT firm of India. To manage my work life and passion, I do 6 hours artwork daily at night.

I have a keen interest in people faces, I represent my understanding of them by portraying it on the canvas. For this I tried various painting colors like water, poster, pencil, acrylic, oil and photo ink color. My portrait work has two types of peoples. One are those who are beautiful, mesmerizing and get straight-ward attention. Another who represent the most common faces around us. My portrait exhibition “In search of a common face” covered more than 500 art pieces it was highly appreciated by the audience. Appreciation of work motivated me to deep dive into the field.

To nuture my talent and skill I daily practice through pencil sketching. Try to understand old artist work and creative movies. Work of maestros like Paul Jackson, Raja Ravi Verma, Ruhive Yalgin, Alvao Castagnet and others are the source of my inspiration. When relaxed I observe and feel nature. Capture it through eyes and camera, get the elements in it and then imitate them on the canvas. I also study the elements in quality photographs of other people.
