Weeds to wildflowers

Weed:

An everyday term used in a variety of senses usually to describe a plant considered undesirable within a certain context.

Weeds to wildflowers is an ongoing collection of work in sculptural jewellery forms, which looks at the varied shapes and diversity of plants that grow wildly on grass verges, gardens and walkways. These weeds are often neglected, overlooked and unwanted invasions but put into the right context have a charm and beauty of their own, where wildflowers are often the romanticised versions of these plants in a different setting. My work seeks to highlight this by replicating the flowing form, or shape in metal, elevating its uniqueness as a subject matter and making the undesirable desirable in a piece of jewellery and placing them in yet another environment that of the clinical and neutral gallery to be judged for their individual form.
